Holiday Horse and Carriage Rides
The annual Bayonne Farmers’ Market, located in the parking lot at 23rd St. and Del Monte Drive, runs from May to November. Every Tuesday, from 2PM to 7PM, the market gives Bayonne residents and people visiting the City of Bayonne a chance to support our local vendors and eat healthy and homegrown foods. This is the Farmers’ Market’s second season, and the list of local farms and vendors is ever-growing. Information can be found on the Farmers’ Market Facebook page. Come and visit the Farmers’ Market every Tuesday, from May until November!
As a fun preview to Halloween, the Special Improvement District holds a Costume Contest for Dogs and Pumpkin Decorating Contest for kids in late October. Bring your furry friends bedecked in creative costumes, while kids have a chance to decorate Halloween pumpkins. Free popcorn and face-painting included. Participants and winners get awards.
The holiday season is full of unique winter events in the City of Bayonne. Families can enjoy the annual tradition of Horse and Buggy Rides with Santa, an amazingly popular event that draws over 750 people each year! Hot chocolate and cider are provided, and holiday songs can be heard echoing down Broadway as Santa’s buggy comes down the street pulled by two horses. Come and enjoy Horse and Buggy Rides with Santa in early December every year.
To light up the holiday season both with sound and color, the downtown district is regaled by Dickens Era Carolers singing everyone’s favorite Christmas Carols. A performance is offered by student choirs from the All Saints Catholic Academy and Bayonne High School, accompanied by a festive student jazz band. Broadway shines with thousands of holiday lights strung through the trees, and Mayor Mike Smith and Santa light the Christmas Tree located in front of McDonald’s in an annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in early December. Santa can always be found strolling down Broadway, happy to pose for photographs.
Please check news releases from the City with more details about these fun holiday events.
To stir up excitement for Easter, the Easter Bunny comes to town – and he’s happy to pull a pose. Families can receive a free studio quality photo with the Easter Bunny. Every Spring, make sure to check when and where the Easter Bunny will be popping up that year.
Summer in Bayonne’s Special Improvement District is filled with exciting events for families and kids.
The third week of July plays host to The Annual Sidewalk Sale, which runs from Thursday to Saturday of that week and offers FREE family events. Some events include Face Painting, Cartoon Characters on Broadway, a Caricaturist, Sand Art, and Balloon Sculpting.
